Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Sponsorships

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas—engaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters.

The Manager of Strategic Partnerships & Sponsorships is responsible for supporting and executing partnership and operational deliverables for the department, in collaboration with the Director, to support the growth and development of programming and initiatives across the institution. This role will support BAM's corporate development strategy and overall revenue goals, creating a unified and seamless experience for corporate partners and sponsors to interact with BAM's work. 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Partner/Sponsor Support 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with BAM's Creative Services, Marketing, and Development Operations departments to ensure proper funder recognition 
  • Attend BAM managed sponsorship activations, partnership events, and meet-n-greets to entertain sponsors and potential prospects 
  • Oversee and track all sponsor crediting (logo placement, billing, recognition levels) across all relevant BAM marketing mediums 
  • Host visiting sponsors at face-to-face meetings, opening night receptions, galas, and miscellaneous events; occasionally "meet and greet" at the Patron Table on performance nights.  

Department Operations 

  • Assist with the management of the department budget and liaise with Finance and Development Operations regarding accounts receivables/payables 
  • Process and keep track of all purchase orders and contribution forms, and manage relationships with outside vendors 
  • Manage electronic filings, funder payment schedules, calendars, contracts, and corporate archives for all partnerships 

Development Support 

  • Update Tessitura with all pertinent donor/sponsor information/updates 
  • Support the Corporate Relations team by providing research briefs about the corporate community as it relates to corporate giving, sponsorships, innovations, and trends 
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing to procure marketing data to be used for benefit fulfillment reports 
  • Assist with both narrative and visual funder proposals, reports, recaps, and one-pagers 
  • Assist in staffing after-hours events and activations 

Lead Generation  

  • Brainstorm new and creative ways to collaborate with prospective partners  
  • Assist with developing experiential projects with new and existing partners 
  • Build new relationships and promote BAM's mission in national and international frameworks 

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • At least 1-2 years of partnership development/ corporate development experience 
  • Required technical/administrative skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Suites, internet applications, Relationship Science, and Wealth Engine. 
  • Preferred Skill: Experience with Tessitura
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated excellence in evaluation and problem solving 
  • Ability to work cross-departmentally, and build authentic relationships, internally and externally 
  • Ability to juggle a variety of tasks simultaneously, often under tight deadlines & challenging circumstances  
  • Strong ability for organization with attention to the finest detail 
  • Knowledge of and passion for BAM programming, music, culture, and community  
  • Customer Service oriented 
  • Commitment to fostering a positive work environment

  • Comfortable working with DEI concepts, programs, and initiatives 
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.

Compensation: The salary for this position is $58,725 per year. The role is represented by Local 2110 and will be paid in accordance with the BAM/UAW Local 2110 Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is full-time, exempt, and eligible for benefits. BAM provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan opportunities including both 401(k) and pension plans, as well as BAM-related benefits including access to BAM's fantastic programming.
