Marketing Manager

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideasóengaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters.

The Marketing Manager will increase BAM's impact by promoting BAMís programming, with a primary focus on creating and implementing strategic marketing initiatives for Creative Social Impact, Education, Family, & live events. The successful candidate will expand awareness of BAM across Brooklyn and cultivate audiences while meeting revenue, strategic, and engagement goals.



  • Create and implement effective marketing plans tailored to the specific needs, challenges, and budget of each program to reach BAMís engagement, and revenue goals and fulfilling strategic audience initiatives
  • Increase awareness and visibility of BAM brand and programs in Brooklyn
  • Attract new and diverse audiences and build audience loyalty
  • Oversee the BAM brand voice and visual identity through the creation of all marketing assets (including, email, social media content, display advertising, signage, etc.).
  • Pursue and implement efficiencies in all areas of marketing through new approaches
  • Establish positioning, audience segmentation, and strategy for shows and programs.
  • Create and adhere to detailed project timelines
  • Develop creative briefs and oversee all creative executions for all related advertising (digital, print, outdoor, radio) and public≠ facing communications (web, email, social media, direct mail, flyers, onsite posters, signage, etc.)
  • Generate social media content in partnership with storytelling manager to increase reach, and engagement
  • Make spending and spend mix decisions in consultation with Director of Marketing to stay on budget and maximize ROI
  • Measure and analyze effectiveness/ROI of marketing efforts
  • Commitment to building to an equitable and inclusive community within BAM and as a good ambassador in the community
  • Keep informed of developments in the fields of social media, digital marketing, not-for-profit management, and performing arts, and use this information to help BAM operate with initiative and innovation


Priority Experience and Skills:

  • Three years of marketing or project management experience necessary
  • Knowledge of current digital marketing strategies and best practices
  • Project management experience
  • Interest and knowledge of BAM programming
  • Ability to read revenue spreadsheets and analyze data
  • Ability to manage and maintain budgets
  • Comfortable working with DEI concepts, programs, and initiatives
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite and Google Suite; Knowledge and experience with InDesign a plus
  • Willing to work some evening or weekend hours
  • Thinks creatively and identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Strong consensus builder who uses data to form opinions and persuade others
  • Takes initiative and holds self and others accountable
  • Fastidious attention to detail and quality assurance


Working Conditions:

Ability to be sedentary as well as occasional walking for distribution purposes. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds in order to move boxes of marketing materials.



This is a full time, non-exempt role represented by UAW 2110 union. The salary for this position is $52,500 and will be paid in accordance with the UAW 2110 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

In addition, this role is eligible for a comprehensive benefit package options including medical, dental and vision insurance, retirement plan opportunities including 401(k) and pension options through either BAM or ATPAM, as well as BAM related perks including access to BAMís amazing programming.
