Patron Programs Coordinator

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideasóengaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters.

Working closely with the Director of the Patron Program and Sr. Manger of Patron Program, the Patron Programs Coordinator will help to identify, cultivate, and steward Patrons and raise significant funds for this seven-figure program. The successful candidate will also coordinate daily operations and the strategic growth of BAMís Patron Program (comprised of donors who give $1,500-$9,999), as well as BAM Young Producers, a group of young BAM supporters. Other duties include liaising with the Marketing Team, supporting event production, and maintaining communication across teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee acquisition, renewal, and cultivation mailings for the Patron Program and special campaigns in conjunction with Development Operations; Work closely with Development Operations team to ensure proper receipting and acknowledgement of Patron Program and Major Gift contributions
  • Manage Patron Program renewal process, including assisting with renewal letter writing, and turning over leads from Telefunding
  • Report on growth of Patron Program against monthly goals
  • Serve as primary liaison with Development Operations and Marketing, helping to develop and implement a strategic plan for Patron-level digital communications as well as managing the logistics of patron email generation
  • Assist with BAMís Young Producers donor group, working in concert with the Sr. Major Gifts Officer; Cultivate and acquire new Young Producers and Patron Program members through in person meetings; work to develop and implement web and social media presence for BAM Young Producers
  • Build a portfolio comprised of donors who give at the $1,500-$9,999 level
  • Write miscellaneous correspondence as requested, including telephone and email follow up as directed
  • Staff Patron Lounge and Patron Table as needed

 

Priority Experience and Skills:

  • 1-2 years of previous work experience, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Ability to communicate directly to Patrons and provide a high level of service
  • Familiarity with non-profit gift processing and accounting procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and Google Suite; Intermediate knowledge of Tessitura a plus
  • Ability to multitask projects with varying deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build 1:1 relationships with existing Patrons and new prospects
  • Demonstrated interest in BAMís programming and mission
  • Comfort with and commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) concepts, programs, and initiatives
  • Available for evening and/or weekend work and willingness to travel
  • Must have the ability to comply with NYC COVID-19 vaccination mandate

 

Working Conditions: Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Compensation: This position is full-time, non-exempt, and the salary for this position is $49,235. This role is a Union position and will be paid in accordance with the BAM/UAW 2110 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
