Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), an internationally recognized presenter of contemporary performing arts and cinema, seeks passionate, articulate, customer service-oriented Cinema Floor Staff members to join the BAM Rose Cinema team!
Cinema Floor Staff are primarily responsible for ensuring BAM guests receive exceptional service. An ideal Cinema Floor Staff member will deliver excellent customer service to all audience members entering the cinema.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cinema Floor Staff are expected to learn all facets of the position, including concession, door attendant, box office attendant, and cinema cleaning.
With guidance from the Cinema Assistant Manager, a Cinema Floor staff will be responsible for learning and administering the following duties:
Learning point-of-sale (POS) system for use at the cinema concession stand and ticket box office.
Communicating clearly and effectively to customer's questions on directions, programming, and local suggestions
Reporting to work promptly
Displaying a hospitable welcome to all visitors
Maintaining a balanced cash register at the concession and ticket box office.
Daily upkeep of the Cinema space during operations. (theaters, workspace, lobby)
Work within a team environment and take direction from managers
Compensation: The hourly rate for this role is $18.00. The role is represented by Local 2110 and will be paid in accordance with the BAM/UAW Local 2110 Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is part-time, non-exempt, and ineligible for benefits. This role will have access to BAM-related benefits including access to BAM's fantastic programming.
Schedule: Cinema staff are expected to work during BAM Cinema Rose peak operation times (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, etc.) and will generally be required to be available during these periods. Qualified candidates must be available to work a minimum of 16 hours- 30 hours per week. (Cinema operating hours are 3pm -12am Monday-Thursday, and Noon to 12am on Friday-Sunday).
Working conditions:
This role is in-person and cannot be conducted remotely.
Requires the ability to climb stairs, stand for long periods, and lift/carry 10-15 lbs objects.
